I have a 1990 Mustang rear 59.5", does anyone know if this can be rebuilt as is or do mods need to be done. Thanks

I have always seen 59.25 as the spec but I think you are there anyway, I googled and found this among many

It's probably 59.25. And is the perfect axle for a roadster. Hot rod. Coupe. Just rebuild and convert to 5 lug and you are in business.

Trak-Lock or open diff? That needs to be part of a rebuild discussion as well. Most would agree a limited slip setup in these builds is highly preferred. Also in the discussion is the ratio. 3.55 is probably the most popular for these builds, but widely discussed and very much dependent on the engine, trans, tires, intended use, etc. Finally, you have the option to upgrade the axles from the stock 28 to 31 spline. Again, depends on intended use. Since you'd hopefully be doing the 5 lug upgrade as suggested, an aftermarket 28 spline axle will drop right in to the existing carrier and be stronger than stock. But some still choose to upgrade even further to 31 spline.

You didn't think this would be easy, did you? :D Welcome to the forum BTW.

In that case I'd go 308 rear.
