None 818 related. But I have a few power wheels electric cars for my daughter and am in the need for a little more speed and extra battery. The current batter is a sealed 12v 12ah battery (for both) since there are very knowledgeable electric car guys on here I figured I would get some good help. Can I get 14ah batterys and get a little more pick up? Can I use the current supplied chargers? What's a good type to buy that's rechargeable last as long or longer than the current batterys. The replacement battery from power wheels are around 60-70$ I'm holding to spend less or the same thx Sam
there is actually a power wheels forum, please don't ask, lol anyway we souped up my niece's power wheels Barbie jeep by adding a 6 Volt battery to the 12 v battery and wiring it up so it was running 18 volts, it was so awesome, she could do donuts etc. and it ran well for years. Once she got older and could barely fit in the jeep anymore we did the obvious so please note if you wire up the motors to run on 24 volts they kamikaze themselves link to forum is below:

Wait till you see the look on your son/daughter's face!!!!!!!!!

My boys had a cammo 12v jeep, as cmsu says, the answer to more speed is more volts, not more Ah, more Ah just makes it run for longer.
Ours ended up 24v with LiPo batteries, and would wheelstand when they went from full reverse to full forward.....
Worked ok for a few hours, then they tried a wheelstand whilst reversing down a steep driveway and ended up on the roof. Shortly after that it started to smoke and that was the end of it.

Yup, as an electrical engineer I can confirm that this is right. Don't have too many volts though, lots of things might not be rated for that.
This is a hilarious thread. Subscribed.

I spliced a connector in for the 18v battery to my power drill and that thing burns rubber now. 24v will burn the motors out quick try to stay under 18v unless you have some serious cooling on the motors. :)

Also, you can use the gearbox from a vehicle with smaller wheels and put bigger wheels on it to make it go faster. They are all geared differently based on the wheel sizes to maintain all models at 3mph (or whatever the speed is...) I think the barbie jeeps have the fastest gearing ratio....

I upgraded my daughters princess mustang, 18v batteries, heaksinks on the motors

I also mounted old Subaru timing belts inside out on the rear tires for better traction.
so far so good.
here's one with similar mods.

Some people on the modified power wheels forum have replaced the motors with alternatives that better tolerate more voltage. Gearboxes can become a victim if your driver likes to go full throttle reverse to forward. I'm hoping to implement an Arduino based adjustable speed controller (http://forum.modifiedpowerwheels.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=17787), but haven't found the time. Maybe someone here will take it up and save me the research!

Wow lots to consider I guess I like the idea of using rechargeable tool battery. I may have to go that route
