Well, I just returned from the factory five build school and I'm more ready than ever to order and get building the roadster. Trying to source a rear end from local salvage yards. From what I understand, an 8.8 rear end from a 1987 - 2004 mustang is required. Does obtaining one from the later years make more sense than the earlier years? or, doesn't i really matter ?. I am looking for thoughts. I intend to install 302 stroker and the T5 tranny, Wilwood brakes, and it will be primarily street driven. Help!

I don't like getting stumped before I even order the kit.

If you intend to run wide tires and wheels using standard offsets you would be best to start with a 1998 or earlier rear and then swapping axles and caliper brackets to get it to Fox width. 1999 and later housings are wider and have to be cut to achieve Fox width.

Definitely follow what Jeff said. W/ Fox width the very common and inexpensive Mustang wheels in 10.5x17 will easily fit. They get you 315 tires w/o fit problems.
