6 speed transmission W/Solid Axle

I am waiting on my MK4 to arrive and I was wanting to put a 6 Speed in it, I keep hearing that the 6 speed transmission will not work with a solid axle, only works with the IRS. I have also heard from others that it will work.

I am going to use a Coyote motor

What are your thoughts?
Would it work with a custom made axle?

Steve,

With a coyote and the Ford Racing six speed you can run a standard 8.8 solid axle. The 4.6/Coyote is a little further forward and makes up for the length difference to the six speed.
