Got quotes back and am gauging interest for the rear mount on the AWIC. This works for either the clocked version or the non clocked version (you order one or the other and I bend and weld it for that setup). Parts will come bent and TIG welded together. Works with the Type14 AWIC core from frozen boost.

I still need to nail down vendor cost for welding (I'll scrap more parts than it's worth for me to do it in house), but I'm targeting a cost of $125. Little more expensive than some other aluminum parts because this requires bending, welding, and the development costs were higher.

To make a full AWIC setup using frozen boost parts you'll need:

Rear Brace: $125

Heat exchanger brackets: $65 http://zerodecibelmotorsports.com/products/heat-exchanger-mounting-brackets/

Frozen boost components: I can drop ship these at 5% off frozen boost's list prices on line. Cost is ~$540 for core, heat exchanger, bosch pump, silicone, and piping depending on options. You'll need to cut your own piping and tap bleeder ports. I can do this, but it'll add to the cost (need to pay shipping to me, then shipping to you + labor).

Front AWIC brace: Not available yet, it'll be simple. Some testers have said that the rear AWIC brace is strong enough by itself to not need a front one. Target cost for this is going to be between $50 and $75

AWIC Hardware set: $30-40. Includes all hardware to mount all my brackets. Price is dependent on whether you bought the HE mounts previously.

Total cost for AWIC setup: ~$835

As noted above, you do need to do some work yourself (mainly cutting aluminum pipes) but you get brackets designed to drop in, all the correct silicone pieces, and save some time and money.

Any interest?

Interested in the full setup!....I know I still owe you rad subframe measurements to finish up my order, but please tack this on. Keep up the good work, Craig!

Oh, forgot to specify: I'd like to do the clocked setup.

That's a great price point considering all the pieces you're including.

Craig, I am also interested in the complete setup for the stock configuration.

Hi Craig Great work on the brackets and intercooler package!!
On your face book page I see non clocked, half clocked and over clocked turbos. If we run a EWG,and remove the waste gate diaphragm, the turbo housing can be clocked straight up.
Are you supplying the different outlet tube and silicon hoses for each different set up?
How does the blow off valve plumb back to the inlet pipe?
Any pictures on that?
Thanks again for your diligence! Don

Don,
Here are the different setups:

Non clocked: Longer piping, more bends, no need to touch the turbo. Tight fit for those with 06/07 push style clutches and DBW throttle bodies.

45 deg clocked: Fewer bends, shorter piping. I have a bracket for the wastegate for TD04's to clock the housing and retain the internal wastegate. Requires clocking the turbo and massaging the coolant lines as needed for clearance (Bob had to bend his water line as did I).

90 deg clocked: Least amount of bends, same length of piping as 45 deg. This is only good if you have an EWG. The bracket to clock the IWG was too flexible without adding several parts to it which I didn't want to do. With an external wastegate this isn't a problem.

Plumb back. Some people have hard lines for the return (like FXT's) others have all silicone. The diameter of the hose changes as well. All of my testers have sourced their own hose and coupling barb so far. I'm using a hose and a barb to connect with the original BPV hose.

This is why I haven't listed the AWIC as a complete kit yet but as the various components. IMO, a kit is ready to drop in, no work needed. For some things it doesn't make sense for me to buy and ship (like water lines, I can't source it any cheaper than you can at your local auto shop and then you need to pay me to ship the heavy hose to you) and I haven't finalized the BPV return. If you buy all the pieces about 95% of the work is done, but there's still a few things the end user might need to tweak or supply (water lines, BPV hose) to get it perfect.

Craig, thanks for the breakdown. I'll staying with the stock turbo (TD04) of my '06 WRX, put me down for a 45 deg clocked setup. I'm fine with sourcing my own plumbing as needed - and sounds like Bob's thread will be a good reference to help me .

Order placed for 10 rear brackets and wastegate brackets.

Hey Craig,

Do you use the stock BPV? or is there an aftermarket one included?

Thanks,
Ian

I'm going to use my stock one with new holes drilled to match the Greddy RS mounting pattern or a Greddy knockoff I have.

Okay, so there is enough space on the original BPV to drill new mounting holes for an S type Greddy?
I am interested in your 45 degree clocked setup, what do you think the shipping to Edmonton, Alberta Canada would be?
Or should I just order all the mounting hardware/silicone connectors from you and get the main intercooler core, HE, and pump from frozen boost if that would be easier?

Thanks,
Ian

Yes, but not enough for a nut. So you need to drill and tap threads.

iblackwe: The cheapest option is to order the silicone, tubing, HE core, and AWIC core through me. I just drop ship it from frozen boost but give customers a 5% discount off of the prices that non dealers get from FB. I shipped parts to Frank that way. The brackets and hardware all ship from me as I put those together/make them myself. I think shipping was on the order of $50-$60 to quebec, but don't quote me on that.

Wleehendrick: Bob did his without tapping, I'll have to look up what he did again.

I used bolts and nuts for the BOV. With the bolt on the inside of the AWIC.

I have the BOV as shown in the top of the picture below.

Hi Bob, thanks for the photo, but I'm using an un-clocked turbo configuration, so mounting my OEM BPV to the FrozenBoost T-pipe with a Greddy style flange, not directly to the AWIC. The bolts holes are closer, and I couldn't find a hole location far enough away from the gussets on the BPV to provide clearance for a nut or bolt head without grinding off the gusset (which I though might weaken it). I just got a tap the right size and that should fix it.

His intercooler was drilled with the greddy pattern. I'll look at my pipe sometime this week. Thanks guys.

You can actually buy an adapter for the Greddy to stock subaru BPV adapter plate here: http://www.treadstoneperformance.com/product.phtml?p=67984&prodname=GReddy+BOV+Adapter+Flange+for+Subaru+WRX+ %26+STI

It would solve your problem of trying to drill new holes for the BPV to mount on your greddy style t-pipe.

Okay Craig sounds good, If you have time could you send me a list of all the components ill need so I can make up my frozen boost order? Or how do you want to go about doing this?

Thanks,
Ian

Thanks... I tried one, but it didn't quite work, since it's designed to mount a Greddy BOV on a Subie IC, whereas I need to mount a subie BOV on a Greddy flange. The bolt patterns lined up, but the flange seating surfaces weren't compatible. The one you linked looks like it might work, though. A Greddy BOV would bolt right up, but I'm not tuning for enough boost to need to replace my OEM BOV.

It's not a big deal, just something to be aware of.

I can send you a list of the parts you need. You can look it over and let me know any pieces you don't want. I'll place the order for you (that way you get the 5% discount on frozen boost parts). I need to know what color (black, red, blue) and I'll let you know if any are out of stock.

Got these from the laser shop this morning. Need to bend them up and have my friend weld them. I'll post a FS thread soon.
