Good Afternoon,

Well it is official, I picked up FFR MK4 8553 on March 27th so let the fun begin. I do have a question regarding the small breather tube located on the top of the 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII IRS pumpkin. The 1/8 inch tube snapped off as I was having the pumpkin rebuilt. It is really tiny. Is this critical or can I just leave it alone? I do not want gear oil spraying all over the underside of the car. Any opinions or comments would be appreciated. Also does anyone have a recommendation on the type of gear oil to place into the Lincoln rear? The FF manual just says 3.25 pints of Gear Oil. I also assume to fill the rear until it reaches the filler hole?

Thanks for the help
Kevin

I'd go ahead and replace the vent and put a foot or two of hose on it, so you can tuck the end out of the way.. Breeze has them:

I forget what type of oil I used, but it was a type that didn't require an additional friction modifier for the limited slip. I want to say it's like 85W90, but I wouldn't swear to that. And yes, fill to the bottom of the fill port. If you haven't already installed it in the car, it's highly recommended to drill/tap and install a drain port in the bottom of the cover, for ease of changes later.

seems like I stuck in a hunk of left over brake tubing. I had it lying around, and it fit perfectly.
