I worked on the fabrication and installation of the Rear Mounted Intercooler (RMIC) as well as the exhaust today. The RMIC will be encased in a separate chamber of sorts that will be fed by ducts coming from the side scoops (aggressive side scoops in the near future). The RMIC support also serves as a crash protection bumper made from 3/16" thick 1" square tubing. The upper portion is made using 1/16th thin wall tubing. Hood latching will be attached to the frame as well.

That thing is going to just whisper with that big of a muffler!

Looks good.

Make sure to block off that intercooler as well as you can. I am still overwhelmed by the amount of heat the rear of the car holds, this is coming from a 911 guy! Vent well.

I just used the side vents to feed my oil cooler in the rear with 3" hoses. I did not like the 250 degree oil temp on a 65 degree day at the track. I had a cooler half the size without the hose ducting previously.

Oil cooler with ducts/hose attachments- It has puller fans on other side to help supplement air flow:

Have you thought of a place to put an oil cooler?

Chad - the way you ran your ducts is exactly what i 2as thinking for the IC but was thinking more like 6" duct per side. Im going to totally seal off IC from the engine bay within a fiberglass tub and insulation.

To be honest, i havent given much thought to the oil cooler. I dont intended to race the 818 but the ocassional free spirited run or autocross day is not out of the question. For now im leaning towards leaving it as is and seeing where the temps go.

Nice work on your setup btw.

Lol, its perfect. Nice and throaty but not obnoxious. Without the muffler and just the high flow cat, i could hear it a mile away. Even though it did sound glorious :), i did not want unneeded attention.

Great stuff as always Kurt. You really need your own build thread, you've been pioneering a lot of new mods.
