Holly's HydraMat was brought up in a thread ( can't remember which one ) and looked like a great idea.

Holly has finally come out with pricing....

I thought I was going to run out and buy one as soon as they became available. Now, I'm not so sure.

I don't know, the cheapest is $150. Do you really need more than that would for the 818's small fuel tank?

The stock tank is extremely wide and thin and with any exuberant driving with less than a half-tank you might run into fuel starvation, regardless. It might be more prevalent turning left... I don't know.
Subarus are notorious for fuel starvation on the track with your tank less than half-full. I know it's not a WRX gas tank, but you get the idea. I wouldn't want a tiny Hydra-mat in a regular tank. Might be fine in my confined fuel cell.

I need to measure my Boyd tank, but for $200 the 15" x 8" cross might work pretty well. The 3/8" NPT or -10 AN hookup complicates connecting to an in tank fuel pump.

Hi guys perhaps a cup inside the tank that is filled by the stock subaru jet pump might be the solution. Bob in Cincy triggered my mind as I was building my front tank. The 4 " cup is filled by the aeromotive 340 and SARDS killer jet pump.
The pump will always be in 9" of fuel.3970439705

That, is an awesome idea. My problem is, I have to have a racing approved fuel cell. Is anyone offering this in a legal fuel cell?

Scargo, you may be able to find a ~1-2L fuel surge tank that is external to the cell, and legal for racing- along these lines:

I know you mean well but $490 with no pump included or $570, with pump, could get me wall-to wall HydraMat! My thought was I would upgrade a standard fuel cell with the Hydramat and not do any foam inside and also downsize the fuel cell to 10-12 gallons...
I know that, from my testing that gutter foam from Home Despot stands up to gasoline. Not sure if it is that cheap, but it seems so. It may be a little too porous.
Seems what I need to look for is "reticulated polyurethane foam". Places like Summit are very proud of this stuff.

Yep.. Those surge tanks are pricey! They don't need to be as expensive as the one linked. Just an alternate means to accomplish a reliable buffer against fuel starve.
