I did a test fit with my engine today and learned a couple things. First, the good news. I'm not sure if the 2005 Mercury Marquis has a different oil filter pickup than a Mustang, or just an all together different oil filter, but even without any spacer on the motor mounts I have plenty of room for the filter, and for removal when changing the oil.

The "not so good" news… I wanted a street car look, sans hood scoop, and now I'm not sure I can pull it off. I'm going to take the intake to a machine shop and mill off as much material as possible, but it may not be enough. I may have to cut that hole...
The bad news… The BBK shorty headers I ordered, part #BBK-1615, won't work on the driver's side because of interference with the motor mount when flipped around. HELP!!! Any 4.6 SOHC guys out there know what headers do fit and still connect to the 99-04 J-pipes? Here's a pic of the engine sitting in the chassis with the carb and intake mocked up so I could get some measurements.
