Hello Roadsters, I am currently running 1997 cobra brake set up with a brake booster. I am looking to swap over to a Wilwood setup. I would like to get some advice before I order the front & rear setup from Factory Five.
I want to keep my brake booster, branded lines and just swap out rotors, calipers, brackets ect...
Is this possible.

You will most likely need to change the flexible brake lines, depending on what you already have. Wilwoods use a 1/8" NPT port, and stock calipers have a banjo bolt.
Other than that, it should be a fairly straight forward swap, using components specifically designed for the '97 Mustang. You can go to the Wilwood site and get a general idea of how it's done.
The standard Wilwood kit (which is what FFR sells) uses a single piston rear caliper. I don't see how that is significantly better than stock; but I have not used it, so I could be wrong.
For a complete balanced kit, I would contact Gordon Levy.

The rear Wilwood caliper that FFR sells has a slightly (3mm IIRC) piston than the Ford caliper. So that helps somewhat w/ the usual lack of rear brake that comes w/ using mustang stuff on a cobra. The other thing I would research a bit is whether you won't have overly touchy brakes if you keep the booster since this system is designed to be used w/o one.

Sam,
If you don't change the MCs, you loose the ability to balance the brakes front to rear with the balance bar and may end up with the same braking problems. The Wilwood set up is not intended for use with a brake booster.

My kit's are 40% larger than what FFR sells. I can help you balance the system properly. Please feel free to call me at 520-494-2745.
