Hello,
Just a little introduction to your community.
I'm living in France, waiting for a MK4 to be delivered somewhere begin june 2011, can't wait !! I've seen some pics from builders who've used a homemade support with wheels wich carries the chasis. Does someone have some simple drawings/measures, I would like to make something while waiting my baby to be delivered.
Thanks all
Greetz

Welcome to the forum. For the body buck, read both of these. The first is a little old but full of good information. It's the one I used while I was waiting for my roadster. The second is a revision for the Mk 4 (3rd post, by MK4), but you'll see that many builders just use the old dimensions.

Thanks very much but I was more looking for a support for the chasis while working on the car. Fortunatly I have more than enough room to stock the body.

Sorry, John, I guess I just breezed over "chassis" and assumed you were looking for body support, which is also important. I think most guys just use jack stands or rolling mover's dollies, which will hold the frame and everything else until you get to the roller stage.

I built a frame cart for mine last year from measurements off the "other" forum. Seems like the 4" tubes are on 24" centers and it was about 5 feet long. It was easy to build. You don't need a frame cart if you aren't doing many frame mods or paint work. Just add the suspension and its a roller.

Bonjour la France et bienvenue sur le forun
I'm so glad to see a "Frenchy" starting such a project. There are few projects in Great Britain, Germany, the Nedtheland and now France!
Good luck to you mon Ami. As a French born living in the US, if you need help for parts, translation or else, feel free to pm me.

Hi John,
Good to see that other frenchy are also interested in building the AC cobra.
I am french and I have been leaving in california for almost two years now.
I am very interested in buying the kit too.
I have been talking with the UTAC and the Drire (the french version of DMV) to try to figure out how to get the kit certified for the road, which technical inspections and which tests that I needed to get passed (my plan is to build the car in US and then to import this car in france when I'll be back).
The person I have been talking to, told me that most of the replica gets a non conformity inspection and don't get approved to be driven in France.
I guess that you might have found a way to do it based on the fact that you bought one of those kit. I'll be very interested to talk to you about that.
Thanks
Mike
