Hello everyone.
I got the Ron Francis wiring and within the afternoon have the Coyote hooked up and ready for starting!
Problem is that the starter clicks VERY loudly and turns over, but barely moves the engine.

Everything is grounded, checked.
car in neutral.
PCM and Fuel light are on for the black box.
Can spin the engine crank freely from the front, so no issue with binding I think.

The starter is the one recommended by FFR in their Coyote Fitment instructions.
Has this happened to anyone else?
is it possible that the starter isnt strong enough to turn the engine? Or that it isnt engaging properly?

It sounds like your starter isn't engaging properly. I would begin by making sure that your battery is fully charged.
Good Luck,
Neil.

Put a volt meter on the battery and then try to turn it over. You should see a drop in voltage, but how much might help diagnose the problem.

As above, what voltage do you read across the battery terminals; sounds like a battery problem.

What bell housing are you using? I recall one of the aluminum bell housings had an interference issue with the flywheel teeth causing it to not turn over. Longshot but possibility. Not sure if this is still an issue or not tough (other early Coyote issues have worked themselves out over time on their own without modifications).

Jon,

You should double check that the engine turns over freely (no binding / no noise between the flywheel and the bell housing). I purchased the aluminum FRPP bell housing and the flywheel teeth were binding with the bell housing - simple fix with a grinder to eliminate the interference spots on the bell housing. When I initially went to turn the engine over, it made a very loud CLICK from the starter motor and would not turn over. If your interference is only partial, you may still get the loud click with some movement of the flywheel. If the crank shaft turns freely (large bolt on the front of the engine) using a socket and ratchet with no binding or noise from the flywheel - then you likely have a different issue.
