I just wanted everyone to see our latest addition to the product line. This micro 3rd brake light can be attached to your car with the double sided tape we provide. It is designed so you can put it right at the trunk seam and not even drill any holes to feed the wires. We sell it with a brushed aluminum finish.
Leave it, paint it, or polish it, it's up to you.
The pictures show it on the back of by roaster but it will work on about anything with a flat rear panel. ( the lighted picture is at only 9 volts so it doesn't confuse the camera too much.)
The part number is EL-MB and the are $79.00 each.
Order from the web site or give us a call.

Thanks for taking a look,
Harvey R.

Thanks, geebang. After a closer look, decided to forego; too angular for my tastes, but still a really nice option that will appeal to many.

My opinion too. If it was more rounded I'd be interested in one.

Harvey, is there enough material thickness to round over the sharp corners or is it formed from sheet?

Craig,
The unit is made of solid billet aluminum. The LED produces a fair amount of heat and there is a resistor to lower the voltage as well. The solid aluminum acts as a heat sink. Not to worry about your paint though. We tested the assembly for hours and the temp maxes out at about 120 degrees. If your break light is on for more that about 3 minutes it was a really long stop light.
Now to directly answer your question. Yes, you could file the sharp edges if you wanted. Don't go too radical or you will open up one of the cavities underneath.
I designed this unit with 60's era muscle cars in mind. Those pretty much all have a flat deck on the rear. There is not a flat surface or angular edge on a cobra. Seeing the early response here I will seriously look into a more rounded body as an alternative for the roadsters.

Not to "pile on" but I too would consider this if it had a curved / "oval-ish" shape.

That's good news! Keep us posted.

All right gentlemen, How does this look? The base is the same 2 1/2" across by 1/2" tall. This rounded unit is even shorter at only 1 3/8" It will still be in brushed aluminum so you can paint or polish it as you see fit.

This is a pre-production unit. We will be able to ship these by late March / early April so you can be the first on your block if your order soon :) The part number is EL-MBR if you'd like to get your order in. 39258

I was imagining like a mini hood scoop shape. Rounded on plan and profile. Kinda teardrop shapped on plan. Still too angular for me. Just my opinion though!
