I have used a mechanical fuel pump in three builds with success. All were Fords, but the Chevy should be similar.

I am running the SBC with mechanical fuel pump. I did NOT use the FFR fuel lines though. I wanted a little more flow so I went with a roll of aluminum line from Summit. There are some pics on my blog. What are your questions? I can take more pics if needed,

What size of line did you use and how much?

3/8, bought 25', was MORE than enough. Super easy to form and bend. I ran braided from the hard to the tank, and hard to the pump, then braided from the pump to the carb. Used AN -6 to hard line adapters. Let me know if you want some pics.

I'm not ready for photos. I'm just starting to build the engine. I want everything ready when the kit is ready. Did you run a 700r transmision? What did you use for a kick down?

Yes 700r. After talking with my trans rebuilder and reading online, that kickdown is crucial to the life and performance of the tranny. I am using a Lokar kickdown cable. I decided to add the TCI constant pressure valve body to the trans. This eliminates the need for the minute adjustments in the kickdown cable for proper pressure. Obviously, the kickdown cable still acts as as that, but does not control the shift pressure.

I also went braided lines for the cooler, there are some pics on the mounting on the blog.
