Which groove does the snap ring go in?
Closest to the middle or closest to the end?

You're welcome and thank you as well. Having a blast...hearing it run for the first time was really motivating. Now if I could just get motivated to complete the dash wiring....

I am new at this as I only got my a hot rod 2 days ago. I also know that this post is four months old so things may have changed. The manual says that the front shock snap ring should be close to the end but the rear should be moved to the position closer to the middle.
I hope it's OK to put in my 2 cents.
