Oil filter question

I read a post while researching something else (using the search feature) that mentioned using a lower profile oil filter on a Coyote engine (one from a 2011-12 Cadillac CTS) instead of using the remote oil filter relocation kit. My question is, will the same low profile filter fit a 99-04 SOHC 2V? If not, is there another low profile that will?

Is the remote oil filter needed with a 351W? Im trying to figure out if I need to get another one since Ive heard the one provided by FFR leaks badly. Thanks.

Only if you're using J-pipes or cats. If that's the case you can use an OEM Ford Explorer 90 degree adapter and the filter will remain on the block rather than remote.

I just checked my Mobil filters book in the shop, and for s 5.0 Coyote you can use an MO500 or the significantly shorter MO2222. I'll upload a picture when I get a chance. The MO4651 that the 4.6's use is the same height as the MO2222 but wider than the MO500.
