Anyone else run into this? The assembly seems too big in several dimensions. Panel is mounted (mocked up, actually) as per Assembly manual page 416 ff and Rev 1i.

I can bend and trim as required, just seems a lot further off than expected and don't want to dive in if I've missed something simple……..

Thanks, guys

Some have bent that aluminum tab forward under the dash or trimmed it off. I haven't fitted the aluminum console yet.

Still better than the original. At this point, I would say that's pretty standard for this kit. Just about everything requires some sort of tweaking to get it to fit right.

I just trimmed it as I needed. Also made the tab on the r/s bottom come out the passenger side. Carpet will cover it.

I don't see why they would attach the console to the flimsy dash, as GUNS says "its a work in progress"

Thanks, gents. Talked to the guys at Tow Road, when the red car gets back, they'll take a look and maybe decide to modify the part.

Meanwhile, out with the nibbler!

I've had the same issue. Ended up bending the tab 180-deg forward.

I have the plastic console and am thinking the aluminum may offer me more flexability overall with cutting and fitting.

does anyone have this assembly manual revision 1i they can email to me. dougkirkbride@yahoo.com

thanks Doug

prepare to be disappointed in the added pages regarding the center console:

The full version has a few more pictures, but nothing all that exciting. If you are going to fab an aluminum center console yourself, you are probably better off just using cardboard first to mock it up however you want and using the cardboard to guide you in making the final version from aluminum.

Agree, the FFR aluminum console is odd and you are better off cutting your own

I cut the hell out of mine, still better than the fiberglass one. Check out Mike Everson's solution, fits really well and leaves room for a double din radio.
