I did a partial leather wrap of the stock thin wooden steering wheel supplied by Factory Five. I wanted more grip and comfort but didn't want to lose the look of the classic wheel. Took about three hours to complete as it was my first leather working experience. Bought from a vendor on this site http://www.tangentkits.com/Leather_Wheel_Kits.php

The colour works great with the wood. Was it difficult to do?

The instructions said to soak the leather pieces for 15 min and it was tough working with the first side. I let the other side soak overnight and it was much easier to install and in less than 1/2 the time of the first side. Not that difficult.

Very nicely done. How do you avoid needle tip scratches in the wood?

I was easy to slide the needle over the wood and into the pre-slit holes going from the inside out, without contact with the steering wheel. Also, if I didn't have arthritis in my hands, I could have probably pulled in the leather much tighter to close up the slight gap.
