Looking at page 465 of the 818S build manual it states:" If you are using the optional splitter then this piece (nose floor aluminum) is not needed as the splitter forms the floor". Now the aluminum floor piece measures about 27 inches front to back (same as the space beneath the radiator in the frame), and the splitter measures only about 12 inches. That leaves about 12 inches of empty/uncovered horizontal space. Should the aluminum piece be used in conjunction with the splitter - either in its entirety or partly, or will I end up with a space?

just use both, the metal helps define the shape too

I used both as well. The aluminum makes a nice mount for the subframe side pieces and makes a good tunnel for the radiator.

Thanks guys. Also, I am using riv - nuts for any panels that I anticipate having to ever remove. Should I wait and use the riv - nuts to join the aluminum and the splitter at one time?

Along these lines, did you guys mount a piece of alumnim from the splitter straight back to the frame. i got a piece of aluminim with the kit that the factory says goes there but is has bent tabs on the ends that make me think it goes from the normal floor aliminum to the frame. One picture shows the piece from the splitter to the frame, one shows the wierd gaps that creates. and one picture shows the piece from the original noise alumminim to the frame.

Sean. I installed that part from the floor to the radiator floor. I then made a separate bracket to support the rear of the splitter.

I asitoned the numbers off as soon as I had the panels. Had to get them ready for paint.

I think I do have that piece in my "818S" stuff sent for my R. I'll go look and give you a part number Mechie.
EDIT: I found it. Part # 80606 I'll mock it up later this weekend. But I really want a piece to go from race splitter back, not radiator bottom aluminum back.
