Starting body work after a summer of gelcoat driving and have a few questions. Looks like I'm going to need to add some material to the bottom of the drivers side door appx. 1/8 " to make the gap correct. Should this be done with regular matte repair or is stranded repair O.K. Also need to fill in about 1/2" of one of the sidepipe cutouts which is too big. Again matte repair or stranded filler O.K.
Thanks in advance!

The 1/8 should be fine with the strands but on the 1/2 I'd do cloth or mat. US Composites is a good source for vinylester resin and other supplies. You could buy a quart of resin and add the strands to it far cheaper than 3M HSRF. MikeinAtlanta has done some tutorials and a wealth of knowledge.

I would suppose you could use the same mix for the hood scoop opening ?

I had to do the same on my drivers door, add about 1/8" on the bottom. I used 3M HSRF. After it cured, I made a more than reasonable attempt to see if it would come off. It is solid.
