Had to post my excitement about functioning gauges.

I've got tach (a surprise, worked first time)
I've got fuel (a surprise, worked but needed enough gas to see the needle move)
I've got oil pressure (after much ado & swapping to the correct sending unit)
I've got oil temp (after replacing the oil level sensor with oil temp)
I've got volts (worked first time)
I've got water temp (after using the correct temp sending unit)

Last gauge on the agenda : speedo. I bought an electric type to replace the cable variety and will install this weekend. YES!

Jakester-

You don't need no stinkin' speedo!

Getting close now. I understand your excitement! Gauges look great, and I like your dash labels.

Regards,

Steve

Does it matter which wire goes to ground?
What about the fact that I'm not using a cable anymore, do I need to fill in this hole with silicon?

Speedo works!

I had two VSS plugs down there to choose from. One from FFR and one from Ron Francis. I chose the Ron Francis with the green & grey wires, plugged the green to the gauge and the grey to the ground on the frame.

Then filled in the area where the cable was with black silicone gasket maker material.

Then I ran 0.9 miles on the speedo. :)

In your gauge pic, I noticed that you had toggle switch labels. Where did you find them and what material are they?

Thanks,
Bob

Contact Tommy @ Bestway signs (bestwaysigns@simplepc.net). He'll make 'em for you. They were $9/each. Made of plastic. Here's a close up.

Thx for the close up Jakester. Where did you get the switches? - nice light indicator while in the "On" position. I plan to re-do my dash layout and upgrading the switches to something like you have.

Nice work

Matt

Thanks for the compliment.

The switches came from Wiring Products (http://www.wiringproducts.com/chrome-handle-led-toggle-switch-red.html).

For the Hazard switch, I connected the lighted SPST toggle to 2 relays. One relay provided power to the left hand-side blinkers, the other to the right hand-side blinkers... in this way it allowed for the hazard to function independent of the blinkers.
