I have my IRS rear suspension completely installed and now want to change the stock pumpkin rear cover to a Ford Racing rear cover. Anyone have any suggestions on what the best way doing this or things to watch out for?

Thanks,

I have the same Ford Racing HD cover. This should be a simple bolt-on swap. Just get a new gasket and you should be good to go. I got mine from Mike Forte. Give him a call.

I forgot to mention, you'll need to drop everything out :(

Thanks for the input. I am hoping to be able to change the cover without pulling the pumpkin all the way out.

Bill, I would first try what you suggest above. When I installed the diff with the Motorsport cover, I was (barely) able to install it as one piece. I had to grind about 1/16" of material off the top and bottom of the housing to get it to fit through the opening. I don't think it would have gone in without removing some material. In retrospect installing it as two pieces and assembling them "in frame" would have been faster and less aggravating. Also, the passenger side mounting surface of the Motorsport cover should be ground or milled to a flat plane; if not it will spread the FFR mounting tabs.

Thanks Jacob,

I have already milled that surface flat now comes the hard part, getting someone to get under the car and do the work for me. :)
