I am looking at the drive shaft that came with the MK4 complete kit. It seems to have 28 splines, I believe that this will work fr a T-5 transmission but I will be using a TKO, and I believe that these will need a 31 spline drive shaft. My question, could I have a d/s shop swap the tail piece or is my only option to replace the complete drive shaft.

This begs the 2nd question, is the DS req'd for a TKO the same length as that req's for a t-5?

Also I am using the IRS Rear Suspension.

Thanks for all replies!

Yes, a driveshaft shop should be able to replace the 28 spline slip yoke with a 31 spline yoke. Factory Five lists the same driveshaft (10.375 inches) for a T-5 and TKO. In theory should work. Easy enough to measure and be sure though.

If you wind up needing a 31 spline shaft contact FFR to see if they'll swap your 28 (#14776) for a 31 (#14760). Unless the 28 was an error on their part when you ordered they'll ask you to pick up shipping but that should be less costly than buying and changing the yoke.

i LOOKED UP drive shaft measurement, i found 2 1 from pivit to pivit centerline, and one from end of 4 bolt connector the beginnig of spline on yoke. Neither come up to the FFR measurement.
