FF5 Mk 4
302 SBF from Engine Factory

QUESTION 1 - KEEP OR CHANGE OUT THERMOSTAT HOUSING
So the engine came with a 45 degree housing, and want to know if I should keep it or replace it for a 90- I would like to do this before I drop the Engine in (if it is recommended). My thought for this question is that it might make it easier to use one of the solid hose kits for the radiator (ala Breeze)

Personally I would love to leave it as since it was installed by EF. However, if it is best to switch to a 90 for some good reason, I want to do it now.

QUESTION 2 - HOW TO HOOK UP HEATER/DEFROSTER PLUMBING
I also have a question on the 3 hose fittings (two on the water pump and 1 on the housing). I will be running the heater/defroster from FF and would like to know which two connections are used, and what to do with the 3rd one.

Thanks for all your help as usual!

Jeff

Your thermostat bypass is installed correctly. The rubber-capped fitting on the water pump will be the heater core return. Look at pic #3, see the pipe fitting plug that is installed in the intake manifold behind the thermostat housing? That should have a hose fitting of your choice installed to supply the hot water for the heater core.

Hey Jeff

Boyd is correct You can use this elbow http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sdk-c6az-18599-b which is the supply from the Intake next to your USA sticker. This line gets the heater control valve then feeds the core (either side can be used). The return comes back from the core direct to the water pump with the black plug. The thermostat housing plug can be removed and used for the electric fan switch. I have received the Breeze upper and lower Radiator hoses and believe the 90 degree housing needs to be used. If you stick with the FFR corrugated hose then the 45 degree can probably be used. interested in hearing others response that have been there and done it.

Ok, let me ask this another way, as right now I am still a bit confused-

I have 4 things to install-
-Water Temp Gauge Sensor
-Fan Switch Sensor
-Heater Intake
-Heater Out Take (return)

I have 5 locations in question, numbered 1-5 (now) on the attached photo-
Where does each of 4 items above go?

Thanks for the phone call Rick!

Ok I have it all figured out-
#5 for water intake to the heater
#3 for water return from the heater
#4 for the fan switch sensor
Then there is one more sensor port on the intake that is just to the right/behind of the distributor (looking at the engine) that I will use for the water temp sensor..

FYI I am using an Edelbrock airgap intake for a 302 SBF

Thanks again !

And to confirm for those that are following you will have a #6 plug behind the distributor in the intake that you will use for your Water temp sensor.
