I always find it interesting with what other people drive and think that it can tell a lot about a person. Many people in their threads refer to their Porsche's, Vets, other FFR cars they have built or trucks, so lets see them.

My first new vehicle I bought, 2005 Nissan Frontier.
3" lift,
JBA Headers & Full exhaust
Stillen Supercharger kit
dyno'd at 310 to the wheels.

My 1990 Supercharger V8 Miata.

331 SB Ford, Trickflow top end kit, Kenne Bell blower running 8 PSI,
Dyno'd right at 385 to the wheels and weight about 2550 lbs.
Loved this car and if I have the chance to buy it back, I will. Sold it to fund my 818 project.

Sold my 2010 Challenger and bought an econobox and an 818.

Back in 2010/2011, a Challenger was unique enough that people would ask me to take pictures of the car.

Neat idea... The 818 is my first true project car, although I've mildly modified all my previous vehicles. In general, I like to get a car sorted and keep it a long time.

My first was a hand-me-down, the first car my dad bought new, a 1974 BMW 2002. Great car to learn to drive on... Manual transmission, RWD, simple light weight, well balanced, not too much power. I'd love another some day.

Next up was a 1987 VW GTI 16V. I needed something with good space, efficiency and traction for college in Rochester, NY. I drove it out to CA for grad school, and ran it til the wheels fell off in 2005.

My next fun car was a 2004 Nissan 350Z. I bought it in 2006 with only 5000 miles, a real garage queen that someone else ate the initial depreciation on. I just sold it last week, now that my 818 is nearing completion.

My current daily driver is a 2005 Audi A4 Avant Quattro, which we bought new and was my wife's primary until she got her baby last year, a 2013 BMW 135i Msport.

Also in the mix was a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder that was my wife's origionally, and I drive for a while.

Oh, and every car that both of us have owned has been a stick.

Jaime, when you get your 818 on the road you'll get many, many more photo requests! I had a lot with my FFR roadster and I often let kids sit in it so Mom could take a pic.

Last year we got an unfinished project '66 Mustang GT from a friend. My son has been using it to learn about physics (what happens when you rear-end a SUV, what happens when you spin and hit a pole).

As of last night I just completed a second rebuild. All the front sheetmetal is new, having been replaced on the left (SUV) and now the right (Pole).

Now that it's done, I can get back toy my brother's 15th anniversary MKIV build. Waiting on a new mill from Fortes; hopefully we have a first start in January!

Nice super duty coloskydiver, probably going to trade my truck in on one next year. Right now im rocking a 99 f250 with the 5.4. Solid for a track car hauler. I also have a 99 forester s, a 94 civic dx, and of course an 818. My previous cars include an 02 wrx, two 03 wrxs, and an 06 wrx (which became my donor) all except one pretty well modified for track duty. I also co-drive my friend's 90' miata in the summer for auto cross until the 818 is competed.

The 818 is my only exciting car. Aside from that I own a 1993 VW Eurovan and a 2013 VW Passat Turbo Diesel. No pics of the Passat (my boring but nice commuting vehicle) but here is a pic of the van. Has 5 manual gears to go with 5 cylinders. It isn't much to look at but it is really an amazing vehicle for which there is no direct substitute. Tons of cargo space, low floor, accessible roof, rear seat folds out into a giant bed, curtains for the windows, like 8 cup-holders, front and rear A/C, sliding side windows, has a fold-out table and a fluorescent dome light, hauls 7 people including driver, gets ~22mpg highway and around 20 in town, and I can do all the work on it myself. It's great for our two giant dogs, towing my sailboat, carrying hang gliders, camping, and hauling lumber or other stuff around (I can fit full sheets of 4x8 plywood laid flat in the back). Everything on it works and it has 175k miles on the original engine (the transmission was an automatic but I converted it to a manual by finding a wrecked 5-speed van and taking off all the parts I needed to do the conversion). I bought it for a thousand dollars 7 years ago because it wouldn't pass smog. All I had to do was move a vacuum hose that was routed to the wrong place.

Ok, colostomydiver, here's some of my past, so no one thinks I'm a newbie.
I had a 57 Ford as my first car. This was after a motor scooter and motorcycle. I modified both of them...
I rebuilt the engine and put in a three-speed in the Ford.
Next came a '62 Bug. Before long it pulled wheelies and won autocrosses. 13" custom rims, lowered with Goodyear Bluestreaks.
Next a '58 Porsche coupe basket case. Ported heads, Isky cam and suspension work. I ran a half season of autocross and still came in third. I had a '53 Porsche Cabriolet. Started restoring it and got in over my head. Sold both Porsches to a collector.
I raced this in SCCA.
http://glynphotos.com/Images/ME/fiat_racecar.jpg
There were about a dozen crotch rockets in here somewhere... along with a few creepy cars (like a stock Camaro).
RX7 R1. One of the first in Dallas. Won firsts in several SCCA solo events. Had it four years. Sorry I didn't keep it (along with the Porsches).https://scontent-b-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/74579_173002582716862_7668067_n.jpg?oh=a6fc3ba60c8 570292e552994286cc796&oe=554642FD
64 Chevy Nova SS.

I did all the bodywork, paint, spec'd the custom Centerlines and did some of the suspension work. A great road car at about 400 WHP. Went to CA from Dallas and back in it.
About a 2000 Toyota Tacoma TRUCK! I put small rims and high performance tire on it and drove till the governor kicked in (most of the time).
1994 Nissan Maxima. Coil-overs; a stealth interim car.
2002 BMW M3 convertible with paddle shift. Leather, yada-yada... This was a cream-puff woman's car that I lucked into. I could not bring myself to track it. The tranny was horrible in town but a delight on windy CT roads.
2011 Subaru STi Limited. This was my downfall. ;) A friend said try an STi. I was looking at and test driving the likes of an S Cayman. I loved shifting the six-speed and was sold. Right after changing the poi I was autocrossing it.
https://scontent-a-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/t31.0-8/219618_222214067795713_1472217_o.jpg
After totalling it at WGI due to dropping a ball joint I transitioned everything into a 2008 STi which I still track.
https://scontent-a-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash2/v/l/t1.0-9/529198_740590532624728_326995062_n.jpg?oh=e442c536 c032e629974315ec3ac894b0&oe=55316AF9
Hmmm... Forgot something... Now I drive this and build an 818R... Sometimes I get to drive the wife's 535XI with M package (if I'm nice).

My first post college car purchase was a used 2004 STi. Purchased is specifically because it had never been modified and looked very clean. Used that car to get into track driving and took it to several events with very few modifications.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m35/mxmetros6/STipictures011.jpg

After that I upgraded to a 2005 Honda s2k. Loved having a smaller/lighter car. This was my first convertible car. I continued with track driving events here and there. Put one of the first PTuning turbo kits on it and reliably put down 422rwhp for 25 minute track sessions without issue. Car had a setrab oil cooler and Mugen s1r seats. I put in a harddog roll bar and KW v3 coilovers. The car handled so well and just stuck to the ground. This car was the most immaculate car I've seen to date. Every inch of the engine was spotless when I purchased it and I improved upon the level of cleanliness from there. Really wish I had never sold this as the next owner wrapped it around a tree 6 months after purchasing it.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m35/mxmetros6/FreshDetail059.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m35/mxmetros6/FreshDetail049.jpg

Sold that s2k foolishly for an LS1 swapped FD. Car was a lot of fun and turned heads everywhere. I never would've guessed the amount of people that approached me and claimed the car was ruined with the LS swap. Different strokes for different folks but why come over and complain to me about it? I loved the torque of this car but hated the costly parts that this car carried. I replaced every bushing with poly bushings and put on a set of tein coilovers. I also put on an accusump and setrab oil cooler to keep the LS engine happy on track. This car was a lot of fun but too expensive to make the way I wanted. Every little interior piece that needed replacing from fading carried a hefty pricetag. Good car but glad I sold it to get into my 818 build.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m35/mxmetros6/IMAG0071.jpg

I chose the 818 because I realized I really enjoy the build heavy portion of the cars I own. This car has taken me a lot of time and effort and I'm still driven to complete it, which really says something. The 818 also features a lot of similarities with the things I liked about my previous cars. Turbo, lightweight, RWD, Topless, unique.

Hey, 2Fast, what are we looking at in this pic? It appears to be the right hand drive (based on the fact that there seems to be a seat to the left) but the shifter is on the right. The GT40 came in right hand drive with a right hand shifter?

In any case, that's a ridiculously cool car.

My daily driver/baby hauler is a 2005 Mitsubishi Evolution RS, which I bought new, then lightly modified and tuned with a Tactrix system. I have taken it rallycrossing . . .

37150

but mostly run autocross with it - with both baby seats mounted in back.

37151

(You can see my son on course in the background of this pic in his 2006 STI.)

I own a stock, FWD 1994 Impreza wagon that is a hoot on the dirt. It earned me and my son second and first place finishes respectively in the SCCA rallycross season a few years back.

37152

We used to race my son's '02 WRX in rallycross too, but we beat the crap out of it, and it's now the donor for my 818 build.

37153

I've also owned a 2000 Dnepr motorcycle with side car (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dnipro_%28motorcycle%29). It's the Ukrainian version of the Ural, but is not legal to sell in the States, so they used to ship over the parts as a "kit" that you assemble by following a service manual written in Cyrillic. It's very primitive - basically a 1940's machine built with the same tooling they've been using since the USSR shipped a BMW factory to Ukraine after World War II. I sold it to a couple guys who use it for deer hunting, war re-enactments, parades, and an occasional movie prop.

After the Dnepr was gone, I bought a 500cc Royal Enfield Bullet. It was slow, but a whole lot of fun to ride on back roads. I sold it when we decided to have more kids.

Other cars that have passed through my garage in the past decade include a '74 VW Super Beetle and a '84 Fiat X-19, both of which left in much better shape than I bought them in.

Climbing over the shifter must have made getting in and out even more exciting, especially in the case of Le Mans starts.

Did you build it? Or was it an original?

I'll have to dig up some pictures to add, but I'll get this in here as a placeholder:

Daily drivers:
started off with a 1998 Jeep Wrangler. Did various mods to it and sold it too soon. Still miss it.

traded that in for a 2002 WRX. Loved it. Kept it for 8 years and about 125k miles and it was fantastic. Did a little local autocross and 1 rallycross, but mostly just enjoyed it every day. Had it exactly the way I wanted it...and then sold it. I'm noticing a pattern.

After a couple months with no daily driver (was using my wife's Eos since she was taking the train to work anyway), the 2011 WRX hatchback I had on order came in. I've been driving that for a little over 4 years now. Really a great all around car. I will probably keep it for at least another 4 years since I don't see much out there now or on the horizon that is a better fit for me.

Toys:
1942 Ford GPW - bought this off eBay of all places and restored it as a project with my dad. Super fun and gets tons of looks to this day. I sold off my half to my dad about 8 years ago when I bought my first condo but he still has it, so we still hit the shows and parades with it. Has a 50 cal replica mounted up, so the local police unfortunately have to field a call just about every time he takes it out.

1965 Factory Five Roadster Mark III (finished in 2007) - shortly after I bought my condo, I found myself single and with some excess cash flow, so I figured "why the heck not?" and I built it. Sold it this spring to finance the 818 project.

I have one of those too. 2000 Camry I purchased off an elderly client last year. 2.2L only 68k miles when I bought it, 32mpg, ugly as hell but good for 300k miles. The herd is about to be thinned out, I would like to purchase a Maserati or Bentley this year (used they are very reasonable) but I will need to sell a few cars.... Amazing what 50k will buy.

Boring cars:
1988 Pontiac Safari 6000 Station Wagon (it was free, donated to scrap yard)

1993 Subaru Legacy Wagon (FWD) (it was also free, gave away to mom's co-worker when I bought my 06 WRX)

2004 GMC Envoy (given to wife from her parents when they moved, I haul stuff with it, she drives it in the winter)
Funny story: The guy behind me had more money into his car (FFR cobra) than I had into my entire setup (F500, trailer, envoy) but was still slower. lol.

1986 Red Devil F500 (bought for $2500, rebuild everything, upgraded motor from 440 to 500, ~110hp, 775lbs with driver)

Custom Hot wheels I made. It started out looking like the red one. Made it look like my wife's Mini.

The thing about car guys, we are all the same at the core. Different tastes, but have the same fire burning in our gut. I have not seen one vehicle on the post I wouldn't own. The right hand GT is amazing, the LS RX7 is one my top 10 list and would give my left nut for that Panoz. BTW, we all deserve a better look at that M4! What a tease. As a friend of mine would say, "if that doesn't light your fire, than your wood is wet."
