Has anyone reflashed their 2002 WRX ECU? I have been trying for almost 2 weeks and back and forth with Tactrix. Even after a debug program they sent me they can not figure out why I can not upload the ECU program to my laptop. I have done many aftermarket ECU's but this is my first try with a factory one. I have checked and double checked every wire and connector. My obdII scanner works fine with the ecu and can read codes as well as all engine parameters even with the car running. Any help would be appreciated. I would be willing to send someone my ECU if they could reflash the EVAP and 2ndary fuel level CELs to the off settings for me.

Do you have the two green plugs connected to each other & the transparent jumper plug plugged in for the re-flash? Just starting with the basics. We haven't had issues with our AP.

Yes I have the green ones together and the blue one on the white. The ECU goes into test mode fine. When I am trying to get a rear the ECU flash program starts a read and then gets an error code. I even tried another 2002 WRX ECU I had to no luck, Very frustrating for me to say the least. I really appreciate Wayne's ECU and wiring harness now more than ever. LOL.

What is the error code, also are you using ECU-flash?

Quiny, my son and I spent some time on Mike Everson's 2002 ecu and ultimately got his to take a load. There were two factors that needed to be addressed there. The first was to verify all the wiring was correct and the second was to use a beta version of the tactrix software to address a low voltage issue.

I have for many years, and I never had this issue. I am going to cross reference with a local pro tuner.

If you feel like taking a 4 hour drive down I-75, I could plug it into my WRX, and flash it. I've flashed mine, and my girlfriends WRX hundreds of times.
I also have a spare 03 ecu from my donor that I think would work with the 02 harness. Let me know, and I could flash out the codes needed, and send it to you.

I will recheck all wiring. I am using the beta version from Tactrix of ecu flash.

Flashing can be a pain sometimes but I have never had an issue uploading. If you cant upload I can only think of a few things. RandyB covered most of them but the other thing is that you don't have the proper updates on ECU flash or the settings for the make and year are not correct.

02/03 ECUs can be a PITA. Not only voltage wise, but for some reason they seem to have a timing issue. Where you have to do the connect sequence in a certain rhythm to get it to connect. Get an 04 ECU, will make life way easier.

He is right, when flashing if you don't hit "ok" on the software and turn on the key at exactly the same time you get an error, but I never had an issue uploading.

Yeah ok and key at the same time and proper voltage to ecu, but I think Tom knew this.

I sent 2 of my 2002 WRX ECU's to TWGAB. He has had luck reflashing and offered to do it for me. I hope he has better luck than me.

The only ones I've flashed are 02 + 03. I always ssem to have issues when trying to use a newer computer running newer windows systems. For the past few years I've been using one of those small Acer's runing windows xp. Seems to work great. We recently built a motor, and put in a rotated turbo on my girls 02 wagon, I've reflashed That quite a few times to get the MAF scaling right.
The only quirk I seem to run into is when logging with Ronraider, I will have to unplug from the OBD port, and plug back in before I can flash with ecuflash.
