As any of you who have been working to mount your body panels know, getting the rear sections lined up is a real PIA. One problem is the rear fender perches. On my car, they extend way to far, and jam into the inside of the fenders as I try to square up the rear to fit the engine cover and hood.

I decided to bend the perches a bit, and it made life much easier.

Here's a pic showing how an un-modified perch hits the inside of the fender.

Here it is after it's bent.

I plan on buying Mechie's rear fender support (http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?15191-Rear-Fender-Brace-Zero-Decibel-Motorsports&highlight=rear+fender) as soon as he gets parts in. In the meantime, I rigged up some wire rope and a turnbuckle to adjust the rear panels.

With the perches bent, I can tell there's much less stress on the body, and it makes it easy to swing the panels back and forth to reduce the gaps and center the body on the frame.

It's so simple, it barely counts as a mod, but it eliminates a lot of the frustration of lining up the rear body panels. Even better, if you use something like my turnbuckle set up or Mechie's brace, you don't need to clamp anything. It just sits where it's supposed to.

Great minds think alike. Here's what I did when I was lining up my rear end:

Once you get a wing mount in there you may not need it. I made my mount have 2 mounting pads on the rear to help support the rear bumper. That seemed to help everything out.

Great minds think alike.

Wow, look at that!

I wish I'd thought of using c-clamps - I hate drilling more holes than necessary. I'll have to read through your build to see if there's any more things I haven't thought of yet.

Best,
