It seems like a while since a finished 818 (in all of its painted glory) has appeared. I'm wondering if anyone has any pics of these amazing cars. So far my favorites are Erik's (The flash), Wayne's, Stickshift's, and The Hana 818. Has anyone posted anything as of late? I want to post a compilation thread but I'm too lazy atm :b.

Love his first car but the second one will be HOF. I am happy to supply pics if needed of Tom's 818 (I still see it as his car). This next one will be all mine, my changes, my choices, finishes and colors. Tom is bringing the car back in a drive-able (not quite finished) state then I get to take over and do what I do best. I can't wait to share this very different 818. It will be ready for the open house in June.

On the white car, are those custom front brake duct vents? Also, I notice you used maybe button bolts on the rear screens. Did you dispense with the outer bezels then?

What color is that beautiful orange? Is it satin finish? I have been trying to locate the "sunrise orange metallic" paint that FFR used to offer thru Sherwin Williams. Anyone know about it?

metalmaker12

I have not plumbed the air ducts to the brakes yet, but I am. I used stainless button heads with lock nuts to hold bezels on. Bezels are carbon wrapped.37070 here's a pic, but I will post closer ones Lata

Your body work looks great Metalmaker!

Thanks, labor of love. It came out pretty straight and smooth, I am very critical, but I am happy with the results. Now I am going to come up with some accents with vinyl to enhance my ride. I like vinyl accents because if you are not happy with it, you can take it off, paint not so much. Happy new year!!

If you are talking about my car, it's burnt orange with some yellow mixed in to lighten it, then it has 2 coats of gold pearl on top.

So who makes burnt orange? Is it some stock color?

metalmaker12
01-01-2015, 07:22 PM
There are thousands of oranges man, made by many companies: spies, Sherman, ppg etc etc. copper orange is the burnt orange look. Look at Sherman's colors on there site and you can get the code to get the paint you want, or other paint companies. So many colors look alike.

Wayne Presley
01-01-2015, 07:24 PM
it is a Spies Hecker base color.

Look at copper head from 2004 Dodge Viper.

We kept adding yellow until it was the orange I wanted. Since the pearl is on top instead of mixed in, it looks pure orange face on and the edges pop gold.

Yours is one of my favorites. If the exhaust were better, yours would be the best. I am looking forward to seeing number 2.

Number 2 will be over the top. BTW, Tom's 818 will be for sale again this spring (once the new one is done) if anyone is looking for a completed 818 with a soft top and basically all new parts, Tom's car is incredible.

I am making no judgements on any, there all very well done. A car must be judged in person. Pics can hide stuff. So to take votes this way has no merit.

To judge anything according to my style than ,I personal like Erik's color and wheel combo as much as my own. I am a diehard white racecar guy so that was my choice from day one. But more than color a car must have a certain stance and Erik,Wayne and I captured that with staggered wheels. I like the very well done car Tom did with his color scheme and custom color on wheels, but I prefer wider outback with a concave rim. The Aem is cool and very well done but not my style. I also like stickshift84's wheel and tire combo with his matte peal blue dip. There all cool in my book and I would love to own any. The car can have many faces, but to judge it right one must look under the skin to the parts used to really take vote on it.
