You never know what life will bring...the last thing to cross my mind when firing up my MKIII to head to the HB Cruise-in event on Saturday was that I wouldnt make it there...hell I only live 6 miles from the pier...but 4 miles into the journey I lost all oil pressure and water started blowing out the passenger pipe like a crazy white cloud of steam. With my 17 yr old daugher in tow, we pulled over, I cried, she pouted, and then called "mom" who came and followed me home. It was a gamble to continue but I think there was enough oil film to carry me. Nothing smelled bad, nothing sounded like metal on metal, so for now it is pull and check the plugs, check under valve covers, drain everything, check for bearing debris (hope not), pull manifold, pull head, and then try to figure why no oil pressure on a 13K 302 alum.head roller motor...can only be a couple things, right?? dropped the pickup?? broke pump shaft?? oil gauge quit?? (nah too simple) OH WELL had to VENT my frustration at missing the show...but I got a VERY expensive T-Shirt.

Better safe then sorry. Give it a check out and let us know what it is.

Looks like at least a head gasket for sure (just a royal PAIN pulling everything apart, just got my new Gas N pipes on too!) There was water in the oilpan. I also started thinking about it before jumping in and there is no way oil pressure could truly be ZERO, being hydraulic lifters they would have leaked down and the car wouldnt run or even idle... valves wont open, etc...so that is a head scratcher. On monday will test the sensor by grounding it to the block and tapping the ign. key, if OK the needle will jump...I really hope it is just a bad coincidence, but that is a head scratcher why it would read ZERO right after the gasket blew. Best scenario is that is was just missing badly due to 2 very water-wet plugs I saw when I pulled them.
