Anyone know if it is safe to run the 02-05 alternator on an 06 wrx. The stock for the 06 wrx is 110 amps but can see a reason that I would need that much. I.e. the 80 amps and less expressive.

No problem at all. Unless you are running a huge amp for the stereo you will never need more than that much. You can even get creative with shortening the wiring (load side) as long as you install some sort of fuse or fusible link.
