This may be a dumb question but where is everyone lifting the car once the underbody panels are on? Anyone putting a steel plate at corner over the aluminum? While on the subject of under body. In the manual there is a pic under the car with what looks like skid rails. Anyone know where to get these? Can they double as lift points?
Thanks

Hi Nolan,
I have been thinking about jacking points as all the point I use now get covered up by the body.
My best idea so far it is to mount something like a small hockey puck to the bottom side rail about a foot in front of the rear fire wall. This point lifts both tires evenly for fast nascar style tire changes. (only slower)

Maybe something like these cut down to the height I want.

I will be using some tubing welded to frame (location TBD) and then use the Porsche like lift pads like these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-912-930-914-356-Jack-Pad-Plate-Tool-HD-/350222801649

That's my plan as well. Figure it'll require a small removable access panel, but should make jacking easy with or w/o a super-low profile jack. Still need something for placing jack stands though.
Best,

If I need to put the car on jack stands the plan was to use a jack stand bar between the 2 lift pads and then jack up the jack stand bar and put the stands under the bar, so all support is on the lift pads. Something like this

I have a set of the small Race ramps for getting my R high enough, then I just throw the jack under the car near the steel foot area near one of the crossbars in front of the seat. It seems to work pretty good and is solid.

Here are the shots that I have, there was a video stand in front of the frame so hard to get clear shots

Did anyone get the two triangular pieces of aluminum that are riveted on the bottom under the motor, in front of the diffuser?

Thats a big no. They just sent me the piece under it......A week ago, after they sent me a cobra under seat piece before that... The piece they sent me seems longer and I was able to bridge/angle it so there is not a step.

FFR added these, these are not items they produce or that come with the diffuser
Also note that the only places the under the engine aluminum is riveted is at both ends, so that it forms a curve into the diffuser.

why not just have it lift itself:

Thought about these or similar devices, they are not cheap, require that I have high pressure compressed gas (nitrogen), adds on board weight (already have enough of that) and adds to the more things to go wrong category. I surely like these though !

I looked into that. I may do that later for endurance racing (If the 818R can endure :) ) We would only need 3 airjacks. 2 rear, 1 middle front (battery tray area).
