Hello, everyone. My name is Andy and I've started a new coupe build in Atlanta. My plan is to produce a car that might be something like the Shelby guys would have sold if it had gone to production. It will be a mostly vintage look, without trying to be concours. I've just returned from the build school and took copious notes. Also, many thanks to Garry Bopp for the good advice he has already imparted. I'm lucky to have him a few miles away.

So- with regard to the motor: Given that I have lots of free time; a love of eccentric, annoying cars; a priority on sound and the intangibles of a motor; and a masochistic streak, I will now give you "Elder Statesmen" a few days to talk me out of Webers. Or at the very least, an 8-stack EFI.

Ready, go.

My thanks in advance for your replies to all my future questions. As for the jacket, I'll need a 40 Long.

-Andy

Welcome. You will understand the jacket when you start on the body. LOL>

I vote for Webers...they are just so cool. Some day I'm going to pop for a set.

Andy,

I think that HankL will chime in soon to award you your jacket. Glad to see you on the forum ... lots of us will be glad to help you spend more money than you have budgeted!

Raise your right hand and say after me,

"I (State your name), do swear/affirm, that upon acceptance of this "Revered Coupe Jacket", will willingly subject myself to all manner of frustration and abrasion that my FFR Type 65 will provide. I further pledge that any and all fellow Coupe builders will have free reign in using the cash available in my wallet as they see fit to improve my build plan. I will not look down upon our fellow Roadster builders, but rather take pity on those not talented enough to build a race car with a roof, So Help Me God!"

It is my pleasure to present you with the "Revered Coupe Jacket", Here's your sign!!

Welcome. Looking forward to some pics. It's probably just me but if you plan on driving it a lot I would opt for some sort of EFI even if it is stacks :) There are three of us just to the north of you so don't be a stranger or hesitate to ask for pics of something off one of our cars when you are scratching your head

With a red body he gets no sympathies from me. Try a grey or black one if you want fun.....
Welcome to the club and congrats on the coupe. In what part of Atlanta do you live?

I'm in East Atlanta Village, Tim.
Had to look up where that is. Hope to meet you sometime. Coupe isn't done but we did take the roadster for a night out and the exhaust sounded great downtown echoing off the buildings.

Congrats Andy,

I'm going to talk you in to 8 stack EFI. Love the look and the reliability. Wish somebody had talked me into it!;)

I would also recommend researching the stack efi. Back in the day I had Webbers on a few 4 cylinder engines and that was bad enough. Keep in mind, when you decide you want to try another jet on a V-8 engine, you need to buy and install EIGHT jets. Way different than a 4 bbl carb where I usually change two jets at a time. An efi system that allows tuning w/ a laptop but has the stack look would be awesome. This should be your first and possibly only stop.

Welcome to the Forum! With Garry and your local FFR guys, coupled with the talent (and $$ spending ideas) from the guys here on the Coupe Forum, I can assure you that you're in very good hands! (Keep your checkbook under lock and key though ;).......Build it your way, and get ready to have a whole bunch of new (and fun-loving) friends!

All the best!

The one I sold to build the coupe. Have I been building so long you've forgot it?

TimC,

No, I just thought you meant you had driven a roadster recently in downtown ATL. Of course, I'm old and retired and easily confused ...
