Good luck. I completely stripped the harness and ran it all out the passenger side wiring hole This requires quite a bit of work but the end result is awesome. I will post some pictures later.

Why do you have 4 harnesses there? I only have 2 (and they fit through with no trouble).

Here is a Ron Francis harness that I am working on in a new Mark 4. I stripped everything out that is not needed and then moved everything so that I can run most of the harness out the right side. The only stuff that goes out the left side is the headlight harness. Makes for a neat install.

I agree - only a couple of things go through the pass through (for my car at least!) I ran the rear harness through there and the starter solenoid wires. Everything else went behind the dash and some items came out of the firewall extension piece on the PS like Mike has pictured.

Ok thanks for the replies. I'll go back and read the destructions, again.

I believe the Ron Francis harness on the Mk4 only has one go through that hole. I made changes to mine and ended up with two. Either way you may end up having to enlarge the opening a bit. I wish the manual insisted on running the electrical before installing the aluminum. This is what I did after reading way too many posts on the matter.

I was thinking that same thing yesterday, would of been easier to run the electrical first.

Agree with the others that the only that has to go through the corner of the footbox pictured is the rear harness and likely you will want your main power/solenoid wire there as well. The balance goes elsewhere. Certainly not that big bundle in the first pic. Probably you will need to enlarge the hole slightly to fit the rear harness connector through. Also a good idea to put something on the edge of the aluminum. I split a piece of fuel tubing to make a cushion.

I agree the instructions are a bit vague. But in their defense, there are many variations in builds, e.g. dash layout, headlight and ignition switch location, etc. So one size isn't going to fit all. Locate the fuse box and lay in the main harness, then just start taking it one branch at a time. Works pretty well. You may choose to modify the harness a bit. I did. Certainly not to the level Mike did. But it works OK out of the box as well. It's been said repeatedly in many threads that wiring is probably the most challenging step for many builders.

Also agree wholeheartedly about taking your time with the aluminum panels. The experienced builders know what to expect. First time and low time (like me) need to take is slow and always be looking several steps ahead to make sure you're not covering something up, creating interference, etc. For example, I quickly figured out I needed to put the rear harness branch in almost first thing. Going down the inside of the trans tunnel, out the back around the suspension, and up the tank and rear lights needs to be thought out and installed before any aluminum is permanently attached IMO.
