My 289FIA is supposed to resemble one of the "Dragonsnake" drag cars. I'm contemplating 28" rear tires so visually I'd be close to the look of the older cars that had 30" or 31" rear tires. Anybody try to run a 28" rear? What were the issues?

It might fit if it's not too wide. If my memory is correct, they ran those cars w/ the rear a bit higher than normal so that will help. How about getting a common 25.5 to 26 inch tire and wrapping some 1 inch foam weather strip around the center of the tread. that would give some idea if a 28 will fit

My original MK3 had 275/40-18's in back and they were just a bit under 27". My recollection is that I still had tons of room.
