Some months ago, while my youngest son and his bride-to-be were planning their wedding, he asked if I would consider letting them use my Mk3 Roadster to drive from the church to the reception. Other than the fact that it was planned for November in Bloomington, Indiana, and weather could make it “interesting,” of course I was up for it. We kept an eye on the forecast, and went ahead to trailer it down from Michigan. The day before, Oct 31, it actually turned very cold and windy and even snowed some that night. Not good. But Saturday while cool to start by the afternoon was tolerable with the sun shining. Out from the trailer and over to the church. All went without a hitch, although rumor was there was a blanket stashed in the passenger seat. He promised he would "take it easy" but I'm not so sure. Once he sorted out getting her dress out of the e-brake, kind of blasted off.
Several asked if this was their wedding present from us. I assured them it was not. After the reception, back into the trailer and it’s back in Michigan. Great event and some great memories.
