My two piece gas cap just came apart in my hand. Now I know what you guys are talking about. Who did you talk to to have it replaced?

Consider yourself lucky that your car isn't finished. The one on my GTM separated and I am replacing it with the new style that is not a two piece style. Only issue is it's gonna be a real ***** getting up behind it to remove it seeing not only is it normally a super tight squeeze up in there but I also have a oil cooler mounted in that area on my GTM-x

Can you guys elaborate on the differences? I asked FFR about this a few weeks ago and they told me there was only 1 type of gas cap!

The two piece is garbage!!

two pieces glued AFTER paint = bad juju can't expect adhesion

the other is billet machined

As for the Fuel Cap ,I’m sorry yours came apart. I will send you a new one that is now one piece.
For here on out if you have any questions feel free to contact Tony, Vinny, Dan, or myself.

Thanks for the info... Since my chassis is fairly early (#52), I went to inspect my cap, and have the old version as well. I pressed with a modest amount of force on the ring, and pop! came right apart. Yeah, looks like just a couple dabs of superglue was all that was holding it together. Glad I saw this before installing it!

Can someone give me a direct email for Jay or one of the other guys? Joe is the only one I ever dealt with, and my email to the general tech support address has not been responded to. Thanks.

Hey guys,
I just want to elaborate on this post. Due to a small batch of the 2 piece Fuel Caps having poor adhesion there were a bunch that pulled apart.
If this happens to yours please contact Factory Five with pictures of the damaged Fuel Cap.
If your Fuel Cap is not broken then there is no need to worry. "Not all Fuel Caps are defective".

That's what happens when you glue them together after painting... the holding power is only as strong as the paint's adhesion. Mfg process failure!
