Hi, my name is Stuart and my boys and I are just starting out build. We are incredibly excited and about three weeks in. The front suspension is complete as is the steering column and pedal box. We are moving on to the fuel tank as we dont have the rear axle yet. So far its been challenging but a lot of fun as we have three generations working on it - my father in law, myself and my three sons, 16, 14 and 11. None of us know a lot about cars, but we are learning fast. I am sure we will make mistakes along the way, just like we have already but we really look forward to the journey.

Ill be back soon with questions for sure. Especially as we go beyond the scope of the build videos :(

Hi Stuart and welcome to the madness. These forums are a great place to get help and find ways to spend your money. Tell us about your options, engine choice, and colors. Start a build thread and lets us see your ideas and pictures. As we say here, "if no pictures, it didn't happen."

Welcome Stuart. Take a break when you're discouraged and come back another day. Ask questions here. Add 30% to your budget. Have fun.

Welcome Stuart! As life changing as getting my FFR in 2007 was, I think your experience will be even better because of your family being so involved.

Thanks so all of the great responses. Ill definitely start a build thread. We are hoping to do the fuel tank today and I can already see where we may have some questions. I just got a great book on the history of the Cobra from a friend. Its gotten me even more fired up!!!!!

Congrats on your new kit. I have a suggestion since you have so many helpers. The manual can be a great resource if used correctly (up to a point). Get the group together and read the sections and discuss them. With that many pairs of eyes you will probably discover stuff that one person reading it would not get every time. There are times when a committee is good. That may not be the case when it comes to the actual installing or building. I envy you your support group. You should do great.

Thanks,

WEK.

Have a great build! You seem to have plenty of help. That is always nice. Add where you live, there may be several Cobras near you to look at when you get stumped.

Welcome Stu. I'm so jealous! I have my complete kit, but am still building my damn garage!
Wish I was at the putting a gas tank in stage!

Please get yourself a half inch longer bolt for the passenger side of the tank strap......that'll save you a little headache...and try to incorporate Jeff kleiners mod for the real bumper jack bolts...do that before you install the tank. If you haven't seen it let us know...
