My wife has a conference Feb 11-14 in San Diego. I'd like to get some of the 818 builders/builders to be/wanna be builders together for go karting at K1 speed one night. Posting this early so people can mark their calendars. Saturday is out (going to the zoo that day) but one of the evenings during the week works for me.

I'm in!

I think.

I have to ask my wife.

Who is going to drive their 818 there?

Just in case K1 is unavailable for some odd reason, I'd like to recommend http://www.miramarspeedcircuit.com/
These other places are right around corner, I'm just saying...

Awesome; it'll be good to meet you, Craig! I've been to the original K1 Speed location in Carlsbad many times, but never downtown.

P.S. So if your wife is in the conference during the day, what will you be doing all week? You should make 818 house-calls to help your fellow builder finish ;); we all know how fast you work:

:D

Most of the time I'll be trying to prevent the baby from screaming because mommy is gone and she doesn't like to go to sleep for daddy. I wonder how well I can work with a baby carrier. HA!

Bumping this up. Just over a month away. If you read the Seattle K1 Speed thread you'd know that I brought a heat shield and gave it away to the driver with the fastest time (myself excluded). I'll be doing that for this event too!

I'm planning on it, but I already bought your heatshield:

37302

I haven't been to K1 Speed in years, though, so I'm not a contender!

If you need any suggestions for what to do, where to eat, etc... just let me know.

How cool, you can travel and race. I can make Friday the 13th, in the evening. I can't wait to meet at the track with our 818's for a track day. This is a good start to meet up.

Craig, does a baby really scream when daddy doesn't hear her? ;-)

How did the last indoor karting get together work out in Seattle???

It's this week!

We're on for the Friday the 13th. 7:30 work? Not sure how traffic is and if 7:30 or 8 is better.

Dan, the Seattle version went pretty well. We have three guys show up (pretty much everyone who said ahead of time they were going to show up). Kurk818 won the free heatshield.

Hi Craig,

I'd like to go, but will have to play it by ear... I'm headed to San Jose for worlk later this week. I'll be back Friday, but after travelling may not be up for dealing with Friday evening traffic.

Hi Craig, I can make it but not until 8 or a little later. I am teaching in the desert until 6 and with traffic and all. I would at least just like to sit and talk a little. So where are you guys going after?

To bad you didn't do the Carlsbad location. Downtown S.D. is 90 miles from my place.
I did however get approval from the family to go tonight. I will check traffic at 6 p.m. and make a last second decision.

First race in 1 hour 20. Still time!

Brando schooled us all. I think everyone agreed the second race was the best in terms of karts and traffic. Third was terrible for traffic. Every corner someone was in the way. I got a warning for spinning someone when they braked hard mid corner right in front me. Too bad since I found a new line that I liked but traffic wouldn't cooperate. Tried to follow Brando but kept falling behind. My averages were close to his but he managed to always pull out at least one really nice run.

Good to meet everyone! :)

Sorry I missed it... after work travel and dealing with SF Bay Area and San Diego traffic, I was just too beat to head back downtown last night. Enjoy the rest of your time in CA, Craig!

Excuses excuses Lee. I drove 2x the distance you had to. ;)
It was good to finally meet you Craig. Thank you for putting that together I had a blast.
Also good to meet you Matt, and noted if there was another race or 2 i would have been in trouble. Matt was shaving massive amounts of time after each run. We all ended up with a best lap time a few tenths off one anothet so all in all in was some darn close and very fun racing! Its its impossible to shake Craig he was on me like glue.
Dru glad you made it bro and it was good seeing you again with all limbs functioning.

This race got me thinking we should do a private K1 race for ffr guys at the HB drive in. I might have to push Dave H for that one. Would be a fun gathering once again.

Thanks again guys, till next time.

Glad you had fun. When I used to travel for work I would go to K1 Anaheim every Tuesday and Thursday evening.

Dave should definitely setup the private race.

All of the pics i took were too blurry. I guess you guys were going too fast. Just a phone cam and thats what you get.

Craig, you should find a way to get out to the Huntington Beach show.

Brando, the night of the HB show a K1 race?

Any time I can get a chance to sit down and talk to other builders is fun for me. Especially with what you guys are building.
