Cutting Seat Belts?

I'm replacing the seat belts in my Roadster and after I got them adjusted for length I have a large amount of excess belt at the attach points. I need to cut a portion of excess belt off but want to make a neat cut that won't fray or ravel or look crappy. The OEM cuts on the belts look like they were cut with some kind of heated blade; the ends are almost fused together and should stay neat. Can anyone who has done this tell me the best way to do it?

The usual method is to roll the excess belt, then run a zip-tie through it to secure the roll near the mounting point.

Mountain climbing ropes and yacht sheets (ropes) are usually cut with a heated knife, if there is one of these shops close by they should be able to cut your belts, you may want to test on a scrap piece first.

I've used good sharp scissors and then run the tip of a hot soldering iron across the edge of the cut to fuse it.

wrap the belt with electric tape and cut across the center of the tape, then heat the end with a candle and remove the excess tape.

Thanks for all the good comments. After seeing the sailrite site I happened to remember that once upon a time I had a soldering iron with an interchangeable knife-type tip. That might be just what the doctor ordered. Now the next problem is to see if I can find it from where it's squirreled away in my shop. That's if I didn't throw it out in my cleanup a few years ago.
