Are there any recommendations for a black paint that can be used for powder coating touch-up and for painting other exposed car parts like the differential? I intend to have my panels powder coated and suspect they will also get scuffed during installation and require touch-up.
Thanks,
Damien

I use "Chassis Black" (Gloss) from Eastwood.

I agree the Chassis Black from Eastwood is very good. For grins, I also tried a can of their 2K Ceramic Chassks Black for the hood hinges on my Mk4 Roadster build. I was pretty impressed with it. Sprays out nice, dries fast and seems very hard a durable. More so than probably the solvent dry type materials. But it is a 2-part product with a 48 hour shelf life, so good for one-time jobs but not for ongoing touch-ups. Might be a good option for your differential.
Another option someone suggested to me for PC touch-up is aerosol Appliance Enamel from your local Home Depot. Seems to be a pretty durable product, and the gloss black matches the gloss black PC on my build pretty well. For small touch-ups, I spray some in a small plastic cup, let the solvents flash off, and then use an artist brush. Works good.

Hi Damien
I just had my rearend powder coated. The powder coating comes in varies percentages. I normally choose 60% which I would call Semi Flat and touches up with the Krylon Semi Flat Black Spray Paint #1613. The 90% option that is more like the FFR frame coating would be Gloss black that Doug mentions above I believe. Check with your Powder coater to see what they think would be a close match.
Good luck

For small touch ups, Rustolium looks just like the FFR powder coat. You can get in rattle can or by the QT. It, of course is nowhere near as tough as powder coat.
I haven't used it myself, but I saw a rear end painted with POR-15 and it looked great.

I asked my powder coater the same question and he recommended buying a small amount of the powder, using the following product, brushing it on and then curing with a heat gun. Came out perfect, and when it flowed into the dings, you cannot tell at all. I was not too careful at first when I started working on my chassis and had a number of nicks and scrapes to fix.

I used the Eastwood "Chassis Black" (Gloss) for my challenge car and switched over to POR15 Chassis Coat Black.
