As a Christian I have been praying every day, but because of cut backs and down sizing I might have lost my fight to stay in my Army. I don't know if this is the proper forum, but I am the sole provider for my wife and grandson, so its weighing heavy on me. I have a background in Marble and Granite Installation and Paralegal Services. At 49 I am not the prime hiring age, but if anyone knows of any companies willing to take a chance on me....I promise to make a difference.

Hang in there Lucky, I am praying for your peace and direction in this matter right now. 49 is NOT past the prime hiring age by a long shot, I was hired at 60 to a position that I plan to keep for another 10 years as long as my health allows. I do not know if the housing industries have recovered in Arizona so the paralegal services may be your best bet. There is an ongoing campaign here in the valley to hire vets from any service, maybe the same there. Hold your head high and believe.

PS: Check out Wilbur-Ellis Company, they have branches in Arizona and may have some openings available.

Thank you all for the support and prayers. The thought of getting out is a little scary, and just know that wanting to serve God and my Family makes me a very hard worker!! Willing to learn or do anything to be my family's provider. Not afraid to learn something outside of my comfort zone.

Faith and family can go a long way towards getting you through these stressful situations. 68GT500MAN is right that you're not too old to be hired. I know because when I was working I used to hire folks older than you, and veterans, and people who were both. Should this come to pass, however, considering that the Lord helps those who help themselves:), here are a couple of places to consider looking, if you haven't already found them.

Walmart/Sam's Club makes a concerted effort to hire veterans.

The Arizona Coalition for Military Families has employment resources.

The Arizona Department of Veterans' Services has a list of resources.

Good luck, man. Keep us posted on what's happening.
