would a 2005 Subaru Impreza RS Sport Wagon. work for a donor for the 818??
is there anything that would need replacing or extra? motor has a blown head gasket. car has 215,000kms. on it.
I plan on rebuilding motor.

Should work fine IMO.

2005 Wagon non-turbo will work no issues. Apart maybe from the clutch reservoir, if it's the small one it will hit on the crossbar above it, just barely but will touch. Not sure the 2005 has the same shape, I'd have to check on my own car, but the 2003 did and I had to buy one from a WRX on ebay. FFR did not seem to know about this small issue.

I am sure it is a non-turbo. I haven't had the chance to go look at it. Is it possible to install a turbo on that engine? Since I am going to rebuild motor, figured I could add turbo.
I am not a Subaru guy, so my knowledge is limited. With 215,000 km or 133,000 miles. is there anything I should be replacing beside the normal wear items. Should trans be rebuilt too?

I heard that adding "just" a turbo on an N/A will not work. As the other components like head or manifold don't have the required turbo ports and stuff like that, I think for oiling reasons. Don't know enough about Subaru to tell you more, but that's what I've heard.

Turbos can be put on a NA engine, But, your better off going with a new engine if you want a turbo. I am in your position, (a newbie to Subaru) but I've spent a lot of time going thru threads here on this forum and on NASIOC the Subaru forum. We are fortunate to have a lot of Subie experts here that have posted threads on both forums.

I just brought home a 2004 Sport Wagon today. I haven't removed anything from it yet. . . but by all accounts, it should work fine. $900

On the 2005 NAs, the head is the rare Z25 and according to fateo066 you cannot just add a turbo to it, you have to drill oil ports and stuff like that. I never understood why as my VW engine doesn't need oil ports on the head for the turbo, but like I said, those are things I heard and should be double-checked if going down that route.

It does not have the oil ports needed in its current design.
