Hi all, I'm starting my 818 build next month and would like to introduce myself. I'm 26 live in Dallas, TX and work as a Mechanical Engineer. I've never built a car before my only experience with cars is some lite maintenance and repairs of my current car. I want to take my time building the 818 and learning about all the ends and outs. My long term goal is to end up with an FFR Mk4. I'm looking forward to this build the closer the delivery date gets. I hope I can get plenty of support for the community, and maybe someone can learn from my mistakes:D.
Best Regards
Josh

Hey Josh,
Are you building an S or R? The strategy is interesting to build the 818 first. It sure can't hurt with the similar building techniques involved such as the aluminum panels, especially! I hated doing those. I was thinking that if you are building an R version that could be the track car and you could do the MKIV as the street car. I have got to get a ride in an 818 to see how much fun they are. I sat in one but that was it! Welcome to the forum. You will have fun and have a lot of interaction with other builders, I'm sure. Good luck, WEK.

I'm building the street version. Cost was a big factor in deciding to build the 818 first. I've put myself on a budget with this project and I would rather have money left over for the finishing touches and (cough) mistakes.

It will require significant self-discipline to remain on this forum and stay on your budget. There are just too many cool mods, upgrades, and parts being posted for these cars.
Stay strong and good luck!
I figure the forum added about 20% to my MK4 budget (and I've now got a long list of "wants" and down-the-road upgrades). :D
It's a great experience and sense of pride to build and drive something you built! Enjoy the process!
FFR manufactures GREAT cars and the forum support makes them even better!
