Shifter Cover Plate Alignment

Has anyone encountered this problem with the shifter being wider than the center tunnel? I tried search but was unable to find a resolution. As you can see the tabs on the front left and rear right overhang the tunnel. Any help is appreciated.

I took mine to a bandsaw, just trimmed the side a wee bit where needed.

I trimmed my as well (and mounted it underneath the rails). LongislandWRX pioneered that mod and has pictures of where he cut.
