I'm thinking about doing my own paint after I do my bodywork. I have heard that if I just want a basic blue, no stripe, that it would be alot easier (for a beginner) to use a one stage paint. Can anyone give me some info one this subject? Also want to throw a shout out to Kpeterson for offering to paint my rod for only the cost of paint, thats a long way to drive, but wanted to thank him for his good thoughts and support of the troops!!!

Im not sure you understand what you are saying with the term one stage paint. There is single stage, which is one step, then there is 2 stage. that is base coat clear coat or bc/cc/ , that is the way to go, the color lays down easily and any mistrake, like bugs or runs and sags can be wet sanded and buffed outof the clear. the single stage paint is very dificult to lay down correctly and without a booth it will surely be full of bugs or fish eye. mistakes cannot be easily fixed with single stage paint. you may have meant one stage as in only one time you have to lay down color, laying out a stripe is not overly difficult but takes patience. either way bc/cc is the way to go. Hit up stlouisscott on the other forum and read his posts , he did and excellent job for a first timer and you can follow along step by step in his posts.............HTH Steven

Ditto to Riptide. Scott did a great job painting and documenting his body work.
Jeff, the guy building my Roadster is just about ready to add color.
You can see some comments from our threads.

thats what I ment, single stage. I've read Scotts thread and if I do myself I will go with the 2 stage and read up. Kpetersons offer is looking better and better, might have to make the drive
