View Full Version : Donor options for an electric build

So. . .it looks like I may have some options for a donor since my build will be electric drive. I won't be needing any of the drive train, no shifter, no exhaust stuff, no clutch master cylinder, no cooling/rad stuff, probably none of the electrical stuff. I will need the suspension and steering rack/column mainly as well as the door/hood hinge hardware. Oh, I will need the half shafts, all four of them as I will be build an AWD version. . . probably just use the outer portion. I won't want Aluminum front LCA's as I believe I have to modify them and I don't want to mess with the welding issues particularly because I don't have the equipment for it at home. . . maybe later. Thoughts? Suggestions? Looks like I could use a Forester or maybe an outback?
Older is better in some ways for me as I dont care about the drivetrain. I want the donor parts for $500 or less and I think I can do that pretty easily. There are some Imprezas around just none close right now and I'm anxious. lol I missed one a few weeks back with a blown engine for 500 asking price.

Thanks in advance.

Gary

Looks like I could probably use an older Impreza/outback/Legacy. . . for suspension. . ?

I went for a $600 salvaged 2006 NA Impreza wagon with a bad motor from the front end collision.

Hey Bob,

Thanks, but I know where your thread is. . and have read it several times. :) When are you going to be getting back to the electric one (of the two)?

Cheers,
Gary

My son is back in high school now, so less time for working on the cars. I suspect back onto the electric one around Christmas.
