I'm starting the planning/saving process and I'm hoping to get a Roadster build started in the next year to a year and a half depending on how long it takes to sell my current toy and what I can get for it. I should have a $25-30K budget, before paint and body, which seems like a great learning opportunity if I do it myself. I need suggestions from the pros regarding engine, trans, rear ends. Has anyone bought an Ebay Engine kit? Which engine is ideal? I like the idea of a 5.0 coyote motor, but not so much the price. The stock 4.6 seems a little underwhelming with less than 300 HP. What did you do? What would you do different? I haven't decided on whether I will go with a full kit or a donor car. It mostly depends on how the budget materializes by the time I start and what is available for donor cars.
I want to build the Roadster because I love the idea of it. I might consider showing it, but never plan to race it so ultimately, insane HP isn't high on the priority list, but I want it to be a respectable car and fun to drive. I'm fully open to suggestions and appreciate anyone taking the time.
