My passes for the 2014 SEMA show just arrived in the mail today. Any one else planning on being there?

I'll be there. I just paid for mine yesterday and made my reservations. For the first time, I booked a hotel off the Strip. I will have to get a rental car, but I plan on adding to one of my Tattoo's while I'm there and last time it cost $60 in cab fare to go round trip to the parlor.

I'm going again this year and then straight to Dry Lake/El-Mirage for a two day event.
Don't forget to leave SEMA an hour early the last day and get a good spot on the corner of the boulevard.
The parade of several thousand show cars leaving in a continuous line for a couple hours is unreal.

I will be going for the first time ever. My wife and I are going to take a week of vacation in Vegas so for at least 2 days I will be strolling the SEMA show. Can't wait.

I'll be there too. On a side note.

Alexis Park is when you want to stay. Very inexpensive and right across from the Hard Rock so on the free SEMA shuttle bus line. I have stayed there the last 4 years when I went to SEMA, 1/2 the price if the other big name hotels. Very highly recommended.

What are the dates? Can anyone get spectater tickets?

First week of November. Not open to spectators, but many people get in borrowing a pass. I have given them away in the past, but this year all are spoken for.

Great job on that event last year, and I would gladly pay double what it costs me last year :D
See you in Nov.

I'll be there doing some recon work for my build! I'm flying in Tuesday morning and staying till Saturday afternoon. We are staying at Ballys again, stay there every year, it's pretty good location and decent price.

Missed 2013 but going again this year so it's all good.

Anyone know how difficult it is to park at SEMA?

68GT500MAN
09-15-2014, 10:35 AM
Some of the hotels near the convention center offer parking, but I have found it much easier to leave my car at the hotel (Excalibur on the strip) and take the Las Vegas Monorail back and forth to the show. No parking hassles and a much shorter walk.

Just curious as how all of you are getting to go to SEMA, since it is a trade only event. I gather some of you have some kind of automotive related business, but those that don't how are you getting passes?

I am going to try to come up with some passes so My wife and I can go. Always wanted to but never did. After I had a vehicle featured in Hot Rod magazine a few years ago we got invited but didn't take advantage of it. I wish I had.

Thanks buddy! Last time the hotel just offered a shuttle service but this time we're staying at a friend's house a bit up north. Will investigate further, thank you again!

We'll be there (Mike Mueller and I). I'm hocking my new tool belt for the detailing and automotive industry (www.detailershelper.com). Stop me if you see me at the show, we'll be wearing the belts and obnoxious t-shirts.

I have different industry meet ups to go to, is there anything FIRM scheduled yet for a meet up for FFR folks? I'd love to come and talk shop!

So I'm going to SEMA for the first time since '09 (some changes at work and I guess they need me out there). Right now I have a tentative client dinner on Tues and a for-sure client dinner on Thurs (flying out Friday AM), so my only free night right now is Wed. If the FFR social hour happens again on Wed I'll do my best to join up. So please keep this thread updated Erik, as we're T-minus 12 days from SEMA start. Thanks much!

I get in on Monday afternoon, and have 2 meet ups on Tuesday and one every night of the week (except Wednesday,) plus there's the Ignite on Friday night. It doesn't appear there's anything official going on, but if anyone wants to hang out on Wednesday or just get together for a quick meet, let me know.

In another thread, Eric confirmed that the cocktail hour will be on Wednesday the 5th (6 to 8) at the same hotel as in the past. Stop by the FFR both just before show closing and walk over as a group.

Just in case, which hotel is that? Having never been, the past hotel doesn't mean anything to me. ;-> I may not be able to walk over with the group.

Info from Eric in other tread:

2014 SEMA Cocktail hour- Date is Wedensday Nov 5th!!
Ladies and gentlemen,

The cocktail hour will be at the same location as last year at the same time. That is

The Riviera Hotel Lounge (Next to the R Steakhouse").
Nov 5th, 2013 (changed due to SEMA banquet dinner on Thursday)
6PM-8PM
Comped Beer and House Wine till our FFR tab runs out then you're on your own! You may also decide to stay and have dinner at the R Steakhouse. The food is great.

So, when you leave the convention center, cut across the parking lot and head over to the Riviera Convention Entrance, (not the Las Vegas Blvd Entrance) and look for the FFR signs. We'll have the patio at the steakhouse for cocktails and rubbing elbows with each other. You'll be given a wristband for the cocktail hour when you sign in.

Tongish is over here right how helping me button up the 818e. What a guy. Loading it up in a bit here and hitting the road at 5am. Thanks to Glen for letting me use his trailer. It's awesome. This factory five group is simply the best.

Hi Erik,

All the FFR guys in the Orange County area are avid fans and supporters of your electric build. After helping remove the some of the construction dust and tweak a few nuts and bolts today, I have no doubt your pearl-white beauty will WOW the SEMA crowd next week. Besides looking sharp, the electrical power plant and all its components are absolutely mind-blowing. You need to do another trip to Cars and Coffee in Irvine and announce it on the forums so more can see your build and quiz you about its details.

Wish I had my camera today so I could pass on a preview pic, but alas, a missed photo opp must mean today didn't happen! Believe me when I say photos of this build are secondary to seeing it in person.

One fine job, Erik!

Looking forward to meeting some of you at the FFR cocktail party. This is our 4TH trip. My son & I have an automotive side business that gets us in. If you are not in the business some way, it is pretty hard to get credentials.
