I was just thinking about the PDG GTM and all of their success in the endurance racing and was trying to figure out what would be different if someone was to build a GTM for the sole purpose of lapping the Nurburgring in the fastest possible time?

Any ideas? I guess we would need to put some ground rules down for this so we had boundaries or parameters.

So assuming "production vehicles", and street legal, what would you do differently in a build for a GTM design to go round the Nurburgring fast?

I'd assume more HP/TQ would be an option because of the long straight, but how much? Aero? Brakes? Turbo?

Well, let's just say that there ARE others that are looking into this. :)

Crash - are you one of them?

I can get there in about 5 hours so we've definitely got plans to go round it in the Roadster when it is done. I'm guessing that cars like the Apollo Gumpert might be a good indication for the level of horse power, brakes and aero that is needed.

I could almost see FFR putting together a car or working with their German distributer to build one, get a race driver that knows the circuit well and get them to run the course. It would be great PR for FRR if it went around in a competitive time for $100k.

Would the new shocks that Shane posted up the other day be of use in an endurance car? Actually, didn't he say it was for a car in Germany? <evil> The plot thickens!!!

Price for the manufacturers "block" is now $250k subsequent to the deal the local government reached with the new management/developers.

The gray/silver GTM I built has been around the 'Ring several times.....the owner is the one who originally had Wilbers set-up developed for the GTM. I imagine the orange/black GTM will eventually run the 'Ring also.....and also has the Wilbers.

I would consider those almost stock cars though. Last I saw them, they didn't have big wings, brake ducts etc. I would imagine 650 HP would be the minimum you would need to be competitive as well.

Does anyone know the times the grey one has already put down?
