Hey gang heard the following words on the streets about Dave
"Labrum tear surgery successful. I see lots of pain meds, pain and rehab in my future. Just chillin at the house wishing that I could fast forward through this next week."
Can we get a collective get well soon to a great GTM builder
BTW Dave.... Since you won't be driving you GTM anytime soon, just leave the keys to it under the front mat, I'll take real good care of it for you

Wow this was a surprise! Thanks for the words Ron!
The operation went well and if everything comes along as it should it will only keep me off the tools for a couple of months.
The biggest issue is not being able to use my right arm at the moment but I am very great full in the knowledge that this is only temporary.
Unfortunately with all this time spent just sitting and thinking I have been mentally working through some more mods for the GTM.
I am not sure if the pain meds helped or hindered the design process but there is only one way to find out so my grinder will be making an appearance with the help of some friends.
BTW Ron. If you find yourself in this part of town drop on by. :-)

I second that. Take the time that it takes, but Heal up and get back out there.
Your GTM needs you.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the words.
I have spent the last 5 days just sitting on my butt thinking about my GTM modification wish list and going over photos of different cars and parts.
I wonder if I can convince my doctor that doing fiberglass body modifications is good rehab for my shoulder :-)

Ron, thanks for letting us know about Dave.
Dave, since I didn't even know what a Labrum was I looked it up and all I can say is make sure you give it all the time it needs to heal. You don't want to rush it!
From a Johns Hopkins page (http://www.hopkinsortho.org/labrum_tear.html), for those who may want to learn more:
What is the recovery from Labrum Surgery?
The recovery depends upon many factors, such as where the tear was located, how severe it was and how good the surgical repair was. It is believed that it takes at least four to six weeks for the labrum to re-attach itself to the rim of the bone, and probably another four to six weeks to get strong. Once the labrum has healed to the rim of the bone, it should see stress very gradually so that it can gather strength. It is important not to re-injure it while it is healing.
Best wishes for a successful recovery! Keep us in the loop on your progress.

I had my meeting with the surgeon at the end of last week and all went well on his end.
The Labrum was separated for 270deg of the joint so the repair was well overdue.
I have always had shoulder issues due to a life of abuse so when I hurt my right shoulder about two years ago, (working on my GTM) I thought I had just dislocated it again. Well It did dislocate but at the detriment of the Labrum.
So the lesson for me is to not be a block head and go to the doctor for issues less extreme than a missing limb.

Glad everything is going great on the repair
BTW: Word on the street is that since you got hurt working on the GTM, that your going to try to fit an automatic, so you won't tear the right shoulder again ??

Flappy paddles would be nice but way outside my spend curve.
I am trying to save up for a sequential but that will be a couple of years off.
However I wonder if there are tax credits for a transaxle manufacture or supplier under some government handicap program if they sponsor me a complete unit.
Can’t hurt to through that out there……………..:D:D:D:D
